Wanna drive with me?

This funny incident happened with one of my good friend. With her permission, I decided to blog it, keeping myself in her shoes. Having narrated it 2-3 times during lunch to my other friends, had given me a little hold on it already. Here she goes...

10th exams were over and it was a long vacation time. I had a lot of spare time to njoy. During those days I decided to learn driving Scooty. Although, it was getting postponed due to one or the other reasons, one fine day I decided to make it, keeping all the other activities aside. With all the enthu, I started on the same day evening. As I knew cycling and Scooty is lighter in weight, I thot I would learn it fast. Mom came out with me and she stood in the aangan. It was a straight road infront of my house and at the end is a right turn. Quite a simple route for a novice to startwith. Isn't it?

Wearing ladies helmet, I glanced myself in the mirror.I was so cute and beautiful. All those Scooty ads in which gals with the stylish looks riding the Scooty and the guys glancing them were running infront of my eyes. I turned the keys and pressed the start button and there was I going slowly. Since, it was a levelled tar road with no pot holes, it was a smooth drive and I was balancing myself properly. Although, I was a little nervous in the beginning, as I moved on I felt comfortable. There was sense of confidence building up in me. Oh God! I was so excited. Adding on to it was a lovely embrace of breeze of that evening.

At last, after the long drive, I was at the end of that road. Reducing the speed I took the right turn. And on that corner was a guy coming right infront of me, although a little far! I got a bit nervous. I didn't lose the balance and my poise. Oh! I was trying very hard to move my bike on either side. But, No...I was failing.Time was falling short, I was nearing him. I tried my level best, I cudn't manage the bike elsewhere but there, right in between his legs! I was totally blank, forgot which was accelator and which was break! With the mudguard spreading his legs wide apart the guy started screaming…"Ayyo…Ayyo…Ayyo…" in panic. Already, with my mind running blank, as he started screaming, I started raising the accelerator instead of applying the breaks! My Scooty moved a little and the guy was dragged in the reverse direction and somehow he acted smart and fast and pressed break from the opposite side. The bike came to an halt. Tears were at the corner of my eye-lids. He asked - "What ma'am are you learning it for the 1st time?"I nodded. "Ya…Ya…it happens. No worries, take care and drive slowly". Having said that he moved on.

"Drive slowly!", No way. I got down of the bike and dragged towards the home appreciating the guy's presence of mind- 'Coz, for him, being in the opposite direction, the break is on the right side, which is usually where the hand goes for raising the accelerator!!
